A Traviata in a film setting version at Teatro Goldoni of Livorno

Teatro Goldoni staged  a new production of  La Traviata  by Giuseppe Verdi (premiered on 7 and 8 November 2015)  building  in house  the scenic design of Verdi’s dramatic masterpiece.
The direction was made by  Renato Bonajuto, a young and affirmed director  who already directed more than 100 operas, sets by Sergio Seghettini, costumes by Matthew Zambito and lights by Franco Micieli.  The reading of this production has been focused on the modernity  of La Traviata. The action is moved at the end of the sixties without betraying the musical writing and the dramaturgy .
A production of strong impact in a film setting version: easy to find in the setting allusions to famous masterpieces such as Wilder’s “Sunset Boulevard” and Fellini’s “Dolce Vita“.
A reading that emphasizes the relationships between the characters and the contrast between the realism  in the first two acts and the dramatic loneliness of the protagonist in the final one.
A fresh and youthful reinterpretation of the great Verdi’s masterpiece, which also fascinate the younger audience in a Teatro Goldoni sold out in both performances.
